Leadership by Overcommunication (LBOC)
(Corporate Culture / Internal Communication)
A managerial style based on the belief that the more information is shared, the more effective the organization becomes. LBOC is characterized by excessive emails, unnecessary meetings, redundant documentation, and non-stop status updates.
Examples from practice
An executive who demands daily progress reports on long-term projects; a company where decisions are re-explained in five different formats to ensure "alignment."
Advantages
Reduces information asymmetry; fosters transparency.
Disadvantages
Wastes valuable time; overwhelms employees; increases cognitive overload.
